Not to be missed! Noggin the Nog on BBC Four this week

This week BBC Four is showing tales from The Sagas of Noggin the Nog created by the SmallFilms duo of Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, who produced children's classics such as Bagpuss, The Clangers and Ivor the Engine.

Insight Moving Images had the great pleasure of working with Oliver Postgate and The Dragon's Friendly Society to create the DVD's for Noggin the Nog and the Storybooks, which were remade as short films with the original illustrations.

Sit back and be enchanted by these wonderful stories on BBC4 this week... "In the lands of the North, where the black rocks stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night that is very long, the men of the Northlands sit by their great log fires and they tell a tale..."

We like this review: "Oliver Postgate's narration is completely hypnotic. It has the warmth of a fireside within it, but there's something else, something cruel and dark, yet delicious and inviting at the same time..." Toonhound

Noggin the Nog and other DVD's (Tottie, The Pogles and the Pingwings) can be purchased from The Dragon's Friendly Society.

"Tottie - The Story of a Doll's House" 1980's animated series now available on DVD

"Dolls are not like people, people choose, but dolls can only be chosen"

We have recently had the pleasure of working with The Dragon's Friendly Society once again to produce a DVD Video of the classic children's TV series "Tottie - The Story of a Doll's House".

Tottie is a 1984 animated series produced by Smallfilms for Goldcrest, directed and narrated by Oliver Postgate and based on a children's novel by Rumer Godden. For those who remember Tottie when it was first shown, these films made quite an impression, not only because they have gone down in history as the first childrens' programme to include a murder, but for the enormous skill in animation, voice, and editing which Oliver Postage brought to Rumer Godden's haunting story.

The Tottie DVD is the latest in a series of DVD's we have produced with The Dragon's Friendly Society, including 'Noggin the Nog', 'The Pingwings' and 'The Pogles'. All of these DVD's, including the full Tottie DVD can be purchase from The Dragon's Friendly Society. You can also buy DVD's of Bagpuss and Ivor the Engine and The Clangers.

You can view short extracts from the DVD on our You Tube Channel.
Review from a delighted customer: "...it's a little masterpiece of a series. 5 episodes, each one a magical, delicate thing, dealing with loneliness, dreams, childhood and even grief with such a light touch that it seems as though if you concentrate too hard you might break it. It's a charming series, a delightful and a dark series, its story of dolls that come alive in their antique house touched by an undercurrent of despair that becomes more prevalent as the series goes on.The animation is handmade, rough around the edges and slightly creepy, giving the show a strange air of dusty magic. Oliver Postgate's narration is warm and understanding, and the dialogue is truly beautiful. This is a special programme, a little wonder. It cast a spell on me for every one of its 75 minutes." Professor Elizabeth Loftus speaks....

One of the latest DVD Videos we have produced with Uniview Worldwide features Professor Elizabeth Loftus using real life cases to explore the ethics of implanting false memories and the practices of some psychotherapists.

This fascinating material provides many examples of the malleability of the human mind and the potential for both harm and good that controlling memory can offer. Loftus references well-known studies such as "Lost in the Mall" and goes on to discuss the methodology of more recent studies exploring the implanting of false memories.

Following her professional involvement in a range of legal cases, Loftus expresses her concern about the dependence on eyewitness testimony in the justice system, as the rise of DNA evidence is now beginning to highlight just how unreliable this evidence can be.

This short video extract will give you a taster of the DVD. The full 'Loftus Speaks' DVD is available on-line from Uniview Worldwide Ltd, the leading supplier of psychology resources in the UK.
